Parachute - Baby Squirrel
Parachute was with us for a week. He died in the loving hands of my beautiful wife ... who was diligently caring for him ... He seemed to be doing well, and then changed suddenly. His head injuries may have been substatial from the fall. We don't know, but we are glad that we could at least keep him comfortable and well fed during his short life. We will miss him and his little squeaks.

on July 20, 2008This is Parachute. I saw him outside at the bottom of someone's driveway lying in the crack between the driveway and the sidewalk. At first, I thought it was a child's toy....it reminded me of a small pink plastic doll. Then I thought perhaps it was a small animal. I watched closely to see if it was breathing. I carefully touched it and it jerked in response. I picked it up and the small animal was very cold. I thought that it would die soon. Looking around the area, I saw no nest or other indication of a parent animal. Since we have heat lamps and an incubator at home, I thought at least its last few hours will be in comfort.
